Let’s move further from the fun facts and other details. You can spend 7 amazing days in Costa Rica as I am going to explain. This includes the arrival and departure as well but don’t worry, you will get to know about lots of routes and activities to perform. Let’s begin the Costa Rica one week itinerary.
Note – I am assuming that you will be landing in Costa Rica at Juan Santamaria International Airport which is the most active airport of it.
Day 1. Arriving in Costa Rica
On the very first day, you will arrive in Costa Rica, the country of your dreams. As I said, you will be landed in Juan Santamaria International Airport. In your 7 day trip to Costa Rica, I recommend spending a day in San Jose as it has a lot of things to explore. Also, it would be convenient for you as you are already in that city.
It is highly advisable to take a car to rent to make the rest of the journey. It will be convenient and affordable as well. A small rental car costs you $30 to up to $100.
What to do in San Jose
- Morning – First of all, book a hotel to stay in in San Jose. Just roam around the city with your car. Next, you can have a small trip to the San Jose Museum of Art and tech interactive near to that.
- Afternoon – It’s time to have your lunch. You can either drive to “The Table”, Henry’s World Famous Hi-Life, or Orchard City Kitchen. However, there are a lot more, I just mentioned the popular ones that I have visited.
- Evening-Night – You can take a little rest at your hotel otherwise drive to the “Escape Game San Jose” and “Happy Hollow Park and Zoo” for the evening. At night time, you can drive to “Casino M8trix”. For true nightlife, you can bars and lounges in nearby locations. If you want to explore nighttime with your family and kids, it is better to visit historical museums and theaters.

Day 2. Drive to La Fortuna
Distanced around 75 miles, La Fortuna is a popular city in Costa Rica. This place is worth visiting for a Costa Rica itinerary for 7 days. If you already take a taxi to rent, the journey will be fun, otherwise, you have to look for public transportation like a bus.
- Morning – The most popular tourist destination of La Fortuna is La Fortuna waterfall itself. You can spend your morning in this peaceful location while exploring nature.
- Afternoon – Arenal Volcano is something that you can’t afford to miss. The fun fact about the Arenal Volcano is that it holds the title of the most active volcano in the world. In the afternoon, your next destination could be “Arenal Observatory Lodge & Spa” which is a very beautiful location to explore.
- Night – The nightlife of La Fortuna is more than just the wine, drink, and dance; it glimpse you the culture of Costa Rica. Also, you can explore the free hot spring hotspots.
Day 3. Drive to Monteverde
Monteverde is the 3rd-day destination of your 7 day itinerary of Costa Rica. It is better known by its nicknames like “World of Natural Wonders” and “The Jewel in the Crown of Cloud Forest Reserve”. It is somewhat 72 miles from La Fortuna and you can travel easily with your rental car. Things to do in Monteverde –
- Morning – Start your day with cloud forest – These forests are just covered with clouds at the canopy level. If you are a nature lover, you might enjoy this place. Next, you can try a zipline canopy tour through the hanging bridges.
- Afternoon – Have lunch and take a break. We have to travel to the Biological Reserve which is a major attraction of Monteverde.
- Evening – Head to the Monteverde Cloud Forest Biological Reserve. The best thing is that you don’t need to make bookings in advance, get your tickets as soon as you arrive there. You will around spend 2.30-3 hours, but when you are done with it, you can make a visit to another popular forest reserve “Santa Elena Cloud Forest Reserve”.
Day 4. Drive to Nosara
